Alex Aaron Cushenan

Special Note from Bobbie :

I have been very privileged to have met some of the most incredible artists since starting my company... but no one like Alex. When you talk with Alex the love he has for Elvis just comes pouring out. After he suffered a heart attack, which destroyed 80% of the left wall of his heart, he says Elvis helped him "Rise like a Phoenix from the ashes" to start over and to sing again.
Alex being the humble man he is does not realize how he impacts the young tribute artists of today. All you have to do is be around Alex for a few minutes to know this gentleman exemplifies Elvis in all the positive ways that was Elvis and honored him in all his performances. Alex has been very ill the last few years but this past weekend he and his lovely wife Margaret were with us to bring about the most successful weekend Reflections Competition has ever had.....God blessed us with a fantastic weekend and Alex.

To all our artists that participated this past weekend:

There is so much you want to say when you have these shows but so many thoughts are running around your head.  The award that my husband and I were presented completely caught us both off guard.  It is something we will cherish all the rest of our lives and the man who it represents Alex Aaron will forever be in our hearts.  The one thing I didn't get a chance to say is that the award is for all of our ETA's who pay tribute to Elvis...it represents an eternal flame which will continue Elvis's legacy as long as there are artists like yourselves to perpetuate his legacy.  We share this honor with all of you.  It is because of you that this year's Reflections "A New Beginning" was the best and most successful competition we have ever had.  We raised $1000.00 for St. Jude and we are extremely grateful to everyone for coming out an supporting our cause.  To my artists and to our loyal and great fans we thank you.

Till next year...God bless you all.  Bobbie, Cat and Roy

10/5 Here is a letter I received from Margaret this morning

Dear Bobbie and Roy:

First of all we got home safe on Sunday night - no problems at the border.  Alex is very tired as I think that the  adrenaline was pumping all weekend and that kept him going.

Alex and myself would like to thank you both personally for making our weekend at Reflections 2009 a weekend that Alex and I will never forget.  Your kindness, thoughtfulness and your special friendship towards us will be remembered always.  The weekend did wonders for Alex - he could not believe that everyone remembered him, wanted to meet him, speak to him  and get his autograph, He was in awe of number special gifts that were given to him from their hearts.

Our special thanks also to Cat for her love and caring, for the cards and emails that she has sent to us both over the years.

I would also like to thank all the ETA's personally for making this weekend very special for Alex - he was overwhelmed that they took the time to come over and have small visits with him - not just the ETA's that knew him from the past but the new ETA's that had never met him before but had only heard of him - it was a very humbling experience.  The ETA family and I mean that with all my heart are special - they love what they do for the love of Elvis and it reflects into everything that they do with their  lives - Everyone of them are born with this love and kindness  - it is not something that you acquire.  I thank you all for making our weekend at Reflections 2009 so very special.

I would also like to thank all the fans who came over to see Alex - to the fans who asked me if it would be possible to come over
to meet him, to get his autograph and to speak with him - fans that had never met him before and wanted to meet him - thank you  - He has been overwhelmed by the love that was shown to him -

Even though I have thanked them personally - I would also like to thank the management and staff at the Moose Lodge for the way that they took care of us - they service and servers were awesome.

It was a very humbling experience for both of us and God willing we will both be with you for Reflections 2010 -

Our love to all

Margaret and Alex

01/08/09 FTDP wants to congratulate Heather and Nevin Grant for a  successful show to start out the New Year!! Thank you to Wendy King for her review and we wish our Canadian friends much success in their upcoming contest in April.

What a great way to start out a new year and celebrate Elvis’ 74th birthday! Stage West hosted the 2nd Annual Cavalcade of Champions January 5th, 2009…..featuring seven award winning Elvis tribute artists as troubadours….singing and greeting patrons as they dined on that fabulous buffet! What a treat to hear these talented men in a Vegas-type setting with fantastic acoustics. All era’s of Elvis’ career were well represented by James Gibb, Anthony Carbone, Glen Aitchinson, Bruce Herron, Wayne Curtis, Doug McKenzie and Patrick McGuire.
Then came the headline show. Backed by Paco Danesi and the band,
Pete Paquette energized the sold out crowd with his portrayal of Elvis in the early years. He always seems to be having as much fun as the audience. Paul Ross returned from his new home in Texas to bring us Elvis in black leather!!!! No one will forget the moment, Paul walked along the top of the theatre booths and then fell into one. Thankfully neither performer nor fan was injured. Portraying Elvis in his Aloha special was Stephen Kabakos, a Stage West regular and fan favourite. Stephen’s representation of the King is so accurate in word and action, you can lose yourself and believe that Elvis has returned to the stage! I always appreciate how Stephen gives the credit to the man himself, Elvis, who brings us all together.
Among the other special moments of the show:
Paul Ross tossing the microphone to his fellow ETA’s to help him with Lawdy Miss Clawdy and the peanut butter and banana birthday cake baked by the Stage West chefs for Elvis’ birthday and cut by Jeff and Sheila Marsh from the King of Kitchener, when all ETA’s in the house were asked to come on stage and join in a rousing rendition of Viva Las Vegas and Stephen dedicating the song “ I’ll Remember You” to Elvis.
The excitement didn’t end with the show, however.
Stephen Kebakos was inducted into the Stage West Wall of Fame to be located in the new ballroom! A portrait of Stephen, done by artist and ETA Chris Cooper, was unveiled to the crowd and to Stephen who got very emotional at the honour.
A huge thank you to
Heather and Nevin Grant of King’s Court for the concept of showcasing festival champions in this venue and giving us all a chance to join together to celebrate the music and the memories Elvis has given to each of us. Let’s do it again next year!!!!!
Wendy King

11/13  FDTP's female Tribute artist Barbara Del Piano is one of the subjects of a documentary to be previewed on November 17, 2008 7PM at  Jazz Central - 441 East Washington Street, Syracuse, NY 13202.  It is called  “Chasing Happiness" by Syracuse's filmmaker Ellen Kotzin’s.  It is a short documentary about people at various stages in their lives and how they defined happiness, and how those definitions varied with their ages and life experience. Kotzin interviewed seven interesting people, all but one from the Syracuse area, who shared with her their views on life and happiness. All the participants were at milestone ages, 10, 20, 30, etc.... Barb is one of those seven. These days Barb is keeping busy with interviews from agencies from as far away as Russia who are interested in her female Elvis Tribute.  Talks are still on going for her Madam Elvis tour trip to Brazil. She will open for a famous Brazilian band that is touring. Click here: Central New York Jazz Arts Foundation -   http://www.madamelvis.com/

11/15/08 Today my web site is dedicated to my beautiful sister-in-law .  Her encouragement for me to follow my dream rings true more today than ever . A successful business woman, wonderful Wife, Mother Grandmother and friend Sharon (Miss) Ann Layne went home to be with the Lord on this date November 15th one year ago. After battling cancer for eight years this wonderful and courageous lady lost her battle. She radiated light from her inner strength. Her beauty was never dimmed by the pain we knew she was in. It was never why me Lord.... she just kept that positive attitude with a "thumbs up" to life and living. "Miss".... you will always be our hero and live in our hearts forever.
To her husband John, her children Johnny and Stephanie, her Granddaughter Maddie ,her Mom and her sister Karen; all the family members and her wonderful friends...... we will celebrate the life she had and take pride that she made a difference in all of us that she touched with her graciousness and her love.  Miss, may you rest eternally in the arms of our Lord.
We love you and miss you. Your brother Roy, Bobbie

Spirit of Elvis Award   Rob E. Smyrna Delaware

This award is one that my husband and I established five years ago at the first Reflections Competition.  We are honored this year to have Rob as the recipient of our award.  After two days of being around all these wonderful artists the decision was a very difficult one but felt Rob does personify Elvis and holds the spirit of Elvis in his heart. Thank you Rob!!  I am almost positive if Elvis were here today..he would be honored by you and your fellow artists that are representing his legacy today in a most positive way.

People's Choice  Matt G. Vollbrecht
ETA Choice Award  Matt G. Vollbrecht

Added note from Roy and myself.  We tried to meet all the artists at Reflections personally and get to know you. Please know if we didn't get to talk much to you or get properly introduced we just want to say that it was a very busy weekend and we know who all of you were...we listened and we watched.  Roy was able to work with you as your "Charlie" and you were all receptive and so gracious as Elvis would have been. I want to say thank you on our behalf for being there and showing the public the wonderful qualities that was Elvis both on and off stage. From the bottom of our hearts....God bless you all and we hope we have the opportunity to work with each of you again.

The Contest Formerly Known as Reflections

New Jersey, October 10, 2008-- The Reflections of the King Contest and Convention was a big hit in Lancaster October 3rd and 4th, 2008. However, Roberta (Bobbie) Arnold, owner of Follow That Dream Productions and The Reflections of the King Contest, has decided to bring her contest back home in upstate New York. The decision was made earlier this week, creating a new name for the Lancaster contest as The King Am I Tribute Artist Competition and Convention.

The Reflections of the King Contest had been in existence for 4 years when Mrs. Arnold made an agreement with Pattie Hernandez and Ruben Castillo, allowing them to organize the contest under her advisement. Mrs. Arnold wanted to bring a new perspective to her already successful contest.

Pattie Hernandez and Ruben Castillo began to organize the contest with their productions company name, King Am I Productions, LLC., but under the Follow That Dream Productions umbrella back in March 2008. Combining Mrs. Arnold’s experience and guidance with ideas and inspirations from their contest circuit experience, Miss Hernandez and Mr. Castillo brought The Reflections Contest to Lancaster, PA, hoping the new location would help to breath new life into the contest. They also injected the contest with some new ideas such as the theater in the round format and some new judging ideas.

The Reflections Contest enjoyed success in Lancaster. Audience members loved it. Participating ETAs and their guests enjoyed parties and a farewell breakfast. Local business owners were thankful for the business. For the most part, the sentiment was, “Are you doing this again next year?” As Rob E. Lutz, The Reflections of the King Spirit Award recipient, put it, “this is now a new family.”

Shortly after the contest, Mrs. Arnold felt that Miss. Hernandez and Mr. Castillo had earned enough success that they no longer needed her guidance. As she put it, “they’ll do fine on their own.” With encouragement to bring the Reflections Contest back home to upstate New York, Mrs. Arnold feels it is time to part ways.

Ruben Castillo, Pattie Hernandez and King Am I Productions, LLC. will continue their contest in Lancaster PA next October 2009 under a new name -- The King Am I Tribute Artist Competition and Convention. They are grateful for the opportunity to organize the Reflections Contest and are especially grateful for the guidance from Bobbie Arnold and Follow That Dream Productions.

As The Reflections Contest returns home, the Lancaster Contest will go on as The King Am I Tribute Artist Competition and Convention. Miss. Hernandez and Mr. Castillo will go on with their contest plans with a new name, and the support from ETAs, fans and friends. Whether the name is Reflections or The King Am I, the contest will continue the spirit and the memory of the King of Rock N Roll

8/9 Bolton Arena became a stage for the world's best Elvis Presleys. The spectacular, sequined extravaganza on Saturday - which attracted fanatics from across the globe - was billed as the world's greatest ever Elvis show. It featured four top tribute acts, including Shawn Klush, who is widely regarded as the best impersonator in the business. And they didn't disappoint - as more than 5,000 Elvis fans were left all shook up in a show that lasted more than SIX hours. Special guests on the night were DJ Fontana, who played drums for the King in the 1950s, and Elvis' backing singers from the 1970s, the Sweet Inspirations. One of Elvis' cigar lighters, which he bought for £900, was raffled during the show. And even the celebrities couldn't keep away. Former Cold Feet actor and comedian John Thomson soaked up the atmosphere and Bolton-born Vernon Kay, who hosted last year's BBC show The World's Greatest Elvis, shook, rattled and rolled in the audience. Fans donned white jump suits, sequinned flares, leather jackets and make-up to add to the theatre. Click here to read a review of the event and to see a photo gallery - http://preview.tinyurl.com/5ej9j4  Top of the bill was Pennsylvania-born Klush, who triumphed in the BBC reality show. He performed alongside the Gracelands 24-piece orchestra. John added: "Shawn Klush was the main draw, but the show was not just about him. All the acts were brilliant, as was the crowd." Britain's Steve Preston, who has performed his act in front of the Queen at the Royal Variety Show, Gordon Hendricks, a Stars in Your Eyes winner, and American sensation Justin Shandor completed the line-up. John said: "When Steve Preston sang a version of Bridge Over Troubled Water the entire arena got up and applaud. It was wonderful. "People were in tears in the crowd at Justin Shandor's version of Unchained Melody. It was unreal and he got a standing ovation too. In fact they were standing ovations all night." It all just went to show that nearly 31 years after he was buried, Elvis is most definitely not dead.   6/24 FTDP welcomes Gene back!!!  A famed Throggs Neck Elvis Impersonator has returned to the stage after a successful surgery revitalized a severe reflux condition, which paused his popular act for a year and a half. Thrilled to be up and moving, Gene DiNapoli said, “I’m coming back and the ailment has subsided, hopefully for good.” DiNapoli made his debut on stage at a sold out show June 11th – 12th at Michael’s Italian Family Restaurant, located at 4300 Boston Post Road. A performance in late June at Tottonos Restaurant in Yonkers and an October appearance in California are also on DiNapoli’s upcoming schedule. As a result of the severe acid reflux disease, the entertainer’s vocal cords and esophagus were burned, forcing him to stop all performances in November of 2006. The road to recovery was particularly difficult for the impersonator, as he couldn’t enjoy his passion. “I really missed performing,” said DiNapoli, whose insurance would not cover the necessary procedure. “Last year was a roller coaster of emotion. ”Along with the inability to exercise his talent, DiNapoli said he struggled with the financial burden of not performing. At a high point in his career before the illness, the New York Post wrote a profile story on DiNapoli, which he said dramatically increased the demand for appearances. Unfortunately, his unexpected condition forced him to turn down lucrative offers, one of which was performing on a cruise ship.A low point hit when the television program, Hollywood Heat, came to his house to interview him, not knowing of his debilitating ailment. Still saddened recalling the meeting, DiNapoli said, “The guy said, ‘What’s wrong with you? We can’t put you on T.V. like this.’ ”Dispirited by the loss of the joy and financial compensation of his performances, friends, families and hundreds of supporters held a benefit on October 30 to help get DiNapoli back on track. “The benefit really lifted my spirits and did a lot of good,” he said. He is particularly grateful to the event’s main organizers friend and fellow performer Patrice Norell, and friend Lori Centeno, along with his wife, sister and parents. Many Bronx merchants helped with contributions for the benefit, including Jerome Ragusa, the famed “Cannoli King” of Gino’s Pastries on E. 187th Street in Belmont. DiNapoli looks to the future. “I want to start acting,” DiNapoli explained, “but music is always my first love.”

3/7 1/12 January was a very exiting month for Scot Bruce of California as a guitar player. The CF Martin Guitar Company presented him with a limited edition, exact replica of the
D-28 that Elvis played in the 1950's. Complete with the tooled leather
cover. They are issuing 175 of them, to commemorate their 175 years in the
guitar-making business. Those who were present at his show at the State
Theatre in Easton, PA saw the 'presentation' on stage by Dick Boak,
the head of Artist Relations at Martin. Not only did Elvis play a Martin....but other legends like Hank Williams Sr, Johnny Cash and Jimmy Rogers did too, to name a few. Though Scot had always wished.....he never thought it would happen in his lifetime.

This is an award given annually and voted on by the other competitors at the Reflections of the King Competition, to the ETA who best exemplifies the Spirit of Elvis both on and off stage.  With grace and dignity this person carries himself in a way as to always honor Elvis's memory in a positive light .

Special Recognition

For my judges without them we would not have had such a fantastic competition.  It is a thank less job but these people went above and beyond  Judge in charge Tony DiCioccio (CA)   Patrick Johnson (US) Allan Monette (CA) Pat LaPointe (CA) and Tommy Dee (US) and  Julia Iannandrea  Judging Coordinator.  All of these people made up a great team.  Their knowledge of Elvis individually and collectively proved to make them one of the best panels of judges we have had.  Thank you all for your hard work and for your diplomacy.

To the Club Paradise owners Jim and Sue and all their Staff .  You went the distance to make all of my staff and my artists feel at home.  Your beautiful facility made our weekend one that I am sure everyone will remember.  To Bryan Doyle Clarksville TN) who stepped in to Emcee and Showcase and did a fantastic job, To all my Staff, the Competitors, and to our own Charlie Hodge (Roy) Thank you for helping me realize my dream and keeping Elvis alive in Blasdell NY..."The Spirit Lives On"

My love to all of you till we meet again.....adios  Bobbie

On a special note to Alex Aaron.....we love you Alex.  Your coming to compete after being so ill made all the ETA's realize that the Spirit of Elvis lives in you.

On behalf of Follow That Dream Productions we would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Jackie... Doc's beloved wife and his family.

YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE IT BUT SINCE JAN 9 JILL HAS BEEN IN IRAQ AS YOU ALL KNOW AND TODAY WAS RELEASED!! THE PRAYER WHEEL WE ALL HAD GOING WAS SOOOO STRONG AND I BELIEVE IT HAD A LOT TO DO WITH HER RELEASE.  PLUS THEIR COUNTRY THEMSELVES WERE PRAYING FOR HER RELEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE HAD THE ENTIRE WORLD France, Italy etc. putting posters up in huge arenas /courtyards, the Vatican etc...until her release.  With all this LOVE ON HER SIDE as they say  WHERE LOVE SHINES IT SMASHES OUT THE DARKNESS.

THANKS SOOO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT FOR GETTING YOUR CHURCHES INVOLVED TOO!!

DAVE AND I PLANNED A FAMILY REUNION ON APRIL 30TH TO HELP BRING UP THE SPIRITS OF HIS FAMILY BECAUSE WITH JILL GONE AND WITH MANY OF THE AUNTS AND UNCLES AILING WE DECIDED TO DO SOMETHING POSITIVE.  WE ORGANIZED A FEW BACK 5 YEARS A GO BUT WE ARE OVER DUE FOR ANOTHER.   OH GOD IF SHE COULD COME TO THAT .. I'D BE SPEECHLESS.

I HAVEN'T WRITTEN TO THE AUNTS MOM AND DAD BUT I WILL.  I WANT TO GIVE THEM SOME SPACE FIRST. Thanks again for all your positive energies toward this .  We had heard just weeks ago they killed a man from her same newspaper!!!!!!!! We don’t know if it was a reporter or who.  These people do not know God and love and we can't return their hatred in kind... all we can do is educate and educate... the government is handling the violent part... we have to do the other. Thanks and look up at the stars tonight and be grateful that you had a part in such a heroic non violent method of purpose.  Our family will be forever grateful!!!!

Dave and Maria, Dave's Aunt Edna (the grandma of Jill) Jim and Marybeth Carroll( her mom  and dad.)...and Jill's one sister Katie!!!! they and the rest of the Carroll clan says bless you for what you’ve done we cannot repay. love the Carroll family!!!!!!

It is with great sadness that we want to  pass on to all Elvis fans around the world that Charlie Hodge passed away Friday evening as a result of lung cancer that was inoperable.  He had a couple of treatments of radiation therapy in between December and January.

This beautiful graphic was done my Charmaine

Charlie Hodge was the guy that sang back up for Elvis, played guitar and also handed Elvis water and scarf's during his shows in the 1970's.  He has been performing nightly at the Memories Theatre for the past few years and  was only diagnosed in December 2005 that he had lung cancer.   He continued to perform despite that he had cancer. Like Elvis, he was a true and dedicated performer for the love of his fans.

Here is a letter I received from Beth Stelling one of the coordinators of the Contest of Kings Mall of America.  We are glad we could help them in getting the word out  concerning their competition.  FTDP wishes them much success in this years show.

Bobbie Thank you for making it happen!  Well, we did it. We have had enough new sign-ups for the contest and for seats to go forward with the Contest of Kings. Thank all of you who responded so positively Very Very Much. We still need more help from anyone who can forward the info about the event to friends or ETAs. We are looking for sponsorships for next year also. And for advertisers who would like an ad in the program, on the website and on the video screen at the Mall. Let me know if you can help. We would like to make the show more and more fun and exciting every year!

I received the following letter and with great pride I would like to share it with everyone. Barbara "Belvis "Del Piano received a call a few days ago from California.  On Saturday she was flown out to the coast with all expenses paid by the studio.

Dear Bobbie,

I want to Thank Follow That Dream Productions and Gene Di Napoli for such support on our trip to Hollywood. I have been so blessed with this opportunity, and so blessed with such support. There were 3 Elvis' present for the Television shoot. THIA ELVIS, EL-VEZ, & me, BELVIS. The commercials start running in 4 weeks and will continue to run throughout the summer of 2006. The actual show on "Special Characters" is yet to be announced, but will be within the next few months, or sooner.
Gene Di Napoli, allowed me to use his White Peacock Jumpsuit, as the producers required a white jumpsuit, and I did not own one. Gene's generosity was just the summery of the Elvis Spirit..."Helping a brother along the way" well, in this case his ETA sister.
Follow That Dream Productions is not just a production company, but a true FAMILY. Thank You for your advise, and listening ears. THANK YOU for being there, and hopefully we will be together a LONG, LONG TIME sharing in MUCH Success!!
My Love, thanks & gratitude to ALL !
~Barb "Belvis"

Hello  Elvis Tribute Artists
We hope that an Elvis Tribute artist  will give his impression of the song
THE BONGO MAN FROM BOURBON STREET
or
TRY A PRAYER.
The composer and publisher have offered all royalties to the MUSICIANS CLINIC OF NEW ORLEANS.  As you know the great musicians of New Orleans are going through hard times right now and we want to help them anyway we can and what better way than through music. So please visit our website for the new lyrics to THE BONGO MAN and a demo for the melody. Also on the site is the spiritual  Elvis almost recorded
TRY A PRAYER.
The Bongo Man by the way is a great audience participation song and I am sure if you recorded it would give you world wide publicity besides helping out your fellow entertainers in NEW ORLEANS. By the way if they wish to perform in their own voice .....that would be great too.

By the way I discovered the very first Elvis impersonator and created the ELVIS WALL at the MOTION PICTURE HOSPITAL in LOS ANGELES.  Also hear the now famous Vancouver press conference when Elvis was 22. It's all on the CYBERCLOUD RADIO STATION Just Click the above web site.
