The producers of the award winning Brantford Elvis Festival, have switched up their show this year to present the first annual Rock of Ages ~ Tribute Convention & Classic Car Showcase. Shake Rattle and Rolling...August 23rd and 24th at the Best Western Hotel in Brantford Ontario Canada.
Within the weekend will be a fantabulous Tribute Artist Competition, where all Tribute Artists and Impersonators, will compete, in various divisions and genres for the Overall Grand Championship of being named the # 1 Tribute Artist in Ontario. Could you imagine Elvis and David Lee Roth duking it out? Or Cher trying to out-dance Tina, or Dolly and Reba twanging to the finale or Garth and Buddy smashing guitars? This is going to be one helluva competition!!!
Our friendly and legendary contest is open to EVERYONE. Ages 4-100, all countries are welcome. Children obviously will be competing against themselves but adults will be broken down into categories of their perspective legends and icons, all culminating in the finale showcase.
Registration for the tribute contest is only $25.00. This includes a weekend pass for you and your spouse/significant other and entry into all festival weekend attractions. Other weekend highlights include: Hot Rod Show, Performers from across North America, Sock Hop BBQ, Outdoor Concerts, Memorabilia Vendors, Non-Stop Entertainment & A Whole Lotta Fun!!!
There are several opportunities for any tribute artist to strut their stuff on three of our stages, if desired, or you can just sit back and be entertained.
One of the highlights of the weekend will the musically acclaimed Rockin' Thru the Ages Show band who will set the place on fire with their jaw dropping extravaganza which salutes Elvis - Led Zeppelin and every note in between. Audiences have been on their feet in thunderous standing ovations, chanting for more with this power packed rock salute, which creates one of the industry's most electrifying trips down memory lane. ELVIS, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, the Band, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Led Zeppelin, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and AC/DC....all together in one explosive 12 piece live band tribute to the Icons of Rock 'n' Roll.

 5/4 4/20 Lady Luck Music's 'Peoples Choice Of Champs' in support of the Alzheimer Society Of Durham Region was a complete success! Elvis fans from Ontario, Quebec and even parts of the US, filled Sikorski Hall to capacity on Sunday April 20 and enjoyed electrifying performances by competing champs and headliners. I'm proud to say that I got to do what I had dreamed of doing,...portraying Elvis Presley's 1950s' career in historic detail!   The last six years have been the Ultimate Blast for me!   (time to Brag',..lol)    I am/was the 'ONLY' ETA to cover Elvis' career from 1953 to 1958 in such detail,...I correlated as many of 'my' shows as possible to Elvis' show-dates 50 years ago,...I used the same exact replicas of all four of his guitars,...used three of the same type of 50s' microphones,...Most of his exact replica out-fits from Overton Park Shell, Texas/Arkansas tour,  the N.Y.C. RCA-studio, Louisiana Hayride, Milton Berle, Ed Sullivan, Tupelo Dairy Fair, Jailhouse Rock, Vancouver/Calif. tour...same replica jewelry,...same shoes & socks,...same hair-products,...same Full-size replica RCA Nipper-Dog statue on-stage,...I got to sing in Memphis at B.B. We have now secured Canadian Rock and Roll Icon ~ Grant Fullerton, founding member of the Canadian Band "Lighthouse" to our festival weekend. Grant will be bringing his rock and roll power house showcase to Brantford and of course his guitar. Grant is one of Canada's most infamous guitarists and has been hailed as one of the greatest players in the world. His illustrious career is a brilliant trip down memory lane and he's still packing in the crowds wherever he goes. If you have not had a chance to see his showcase and watch and be mesmerized by his legendary guitar licks and fan pleasing songs; make sure you get out to see the Wizard in action. We are thrilled about Grant coming to Brantford!!! 3/7 1/12 January was a very exiting month for Scot Bruce of California as a guitar player. The CF Martin Guitar Company presented him with a limited edition, exact replica of the
D-28 that Elvis played in the 1950's. Complete with the tooled leather
cover. They are issuing 175 of them, to commemorate their 175 years in the
guitar-making business. Those who were present at his show at the State
Theatre in Easton, PA saw the 'presentation' on stage by Dick Boak,
the head of Artist Relations at Martin. Not only did Elvis play a Martin....but other legends like Hank Williams Sr, Johnny Cash and Jimmy Rogers did too, to name a few. Though Scot had always wished.....he never thought it would happen in his lifetime.

1/14 Memphis Motion are thrilled to announce the launch of our Rock of Ages Festival Website located at: http://memphismotion.com/ROA/ROA-home.htm  It can also be accessed off of our main page at: www.memphismotion.com  (Click on the Rock of Ages icon) Our heartfelt thanks to Michelle & Marie @ GPM - Garnet Promotions & Marketing & CDW - Crystal Database & Webdesign, for their tremendous work on our site and for the special care taken to fulfill another dream. When Geph Mitchell came to us about the idea of having another festival, we were very adamant that the Brantford Elvis festival was over. No going back on our word, we had brought Elvis to Brantford and he had left the building. We had made that decision together but Geph and Rosie, were two that were definitely not comfortable with the idea of ending the festival. While they supported our decision, they both felt that we had more to offer...but what? Geph then presented an idea of bringing together Elvis and all of the Legends of Rock and Roll and Classic Rock into one forum and thereby created a Rock and Roll weekend. We sat on the idea and had a few meetings and finally after talking with some of our volunteers and long-time supporters; we agreed to take on the challenge of creating a brand new event which would culminate in bringing Elvis back, but this time with all of his friends. Our main concern was that we didn't want it to look, feel, sound or resemble the Brantford Elvis Fest. We needed a complete overhaul, goals and objectives, ideology and a marketable and enlarged fan base. Hence, Rock of Ages has been born. We hope to see you at our 1st annual Rock of Ages ~ Tribute Festival & Hot Rod Show; rocking across Brantford from August 23rd - August 24th at the Best Western Hotel & Conference Centre. This is our debut showcase and our first launch attempt at something different, we hope we can rely on your support, as we have for the last 9 years! 1/14 Tim Dudley (South Bend, Indiana) got some more FANTASTIC News.  A call came from Channel 16 News (NBC) and they want to do a COVER STORY on him and his Tribute to Elvis Show! So on March 29th if not before they will start video taping Tim's shows and interviewing him, friends and family around him. Tim is the national Spokesperson for "GrandFamilies of America, Inc." Tim wants to give big Thank you all for the love and support he has had from everyone.

1/14 Congratulations to FTDP's Barbara Del Piano (Syracuse NY).  The first part of January Svetlana a Russian producer from Moscow contacted Follow That Dream Productions about our own Barbara Del Piano.  Because of Barb's amazing voice she  wanted to contact her for a documentary they are making on different and unique Legends including a bionic Elvis; the Royal family; Michael Jackson and a few others. Traveling all over the world to make this film New York was now on their list. So on Monday January 14, 2008 RUSSIA CALLED MADAM ELVIS! Russian TV NTV/HTB wanted to film a day in the life of Madam Elvis. So Camera man Basil & interviewer/Producer Eugene went by the Jungle room at Barb's home in Syracuse NY for some performances & and a nice interview session! WORLDWIDE TV FOLKS! (They are going to dub Barb speaking in Russian)

1/14 Congratulation to FTDP's own Tim Dudley. On May 6th Tim will be doing a private event for the men and women of Congress and some other special guests. On May 7th is when Tim will make history as the first and only Elvis Tribute Artist to perform on the front lawn of the Capitol Building in Washington D.C. in front of 10,000+ grandparents and grandchildren and other caregivers. He will be performing one of the BEST Elvis songs Elvis ever sang..."If I Can Dream." It is the "Grand Families" theme song of which Tim is a spokesperson for the organization. Tim we are proud of you and all the accomplishments you are making with your Tribute To Elvis....

Special Note:  We would like to thank everyone for their condolences on the loss of Roy's sister.  After her long battle with cancer Sharon Layne passed away last Thursday November 15th in Orlando Fl. Our hearts are heavy and we will miss her ever beautiful smile as she was such a strong and positive person till the end.  With always a thumbs up when you asked her how she was doing she will be remembered always for her

  "thumbs up for life."

This year was probably was of the best years for Reflections. Even though we had fewer contestants than in the past....the quality of each and everyone of the these tribute artists would make Elvis proud. Each artist brought something special to the stage and in their performances.....Elvis's spirit was alive and well in Blasdell NY and in the hearts of each of these wonderful artists. To all ten of these gentleman...God bless you for taking the time to bring Elvis back to all of us in a most positive manner and please realize just by doing what you do.....you are all winners. You might not receive major accolades and money but you can see that you do it out of love for Elvis and the magic that he had.
To The Club Paradise...Jim and Sue and their fantastic Staff. What can I say....you went that extra mile to insure that we have a great show. To the Clarion Hotel and their staff thank you for working with us and making sure that everyone had a great stay. This is an award given annually and voted on by the other competitors at the Reflections of the King Competition, to the ETA who best exemplifies the Spirit of Elvis both on and off stage.  With grace and dignity this person carries himself in a way as to always honor Elvis's memory in a positive light . 

Special Recognition

 For my judges without them we would not have had such a fantastic competition.  It is a thank less job but these people went above and beyond  Judge in charge Tony DiCioccio (CA)   Patrick Johnson (US) Allan Monette (CA) Pat LaPointe (CA) and Tommy Dee (US) and  Julia Iannandrea  Judging Coordinator.  All of these people made up a great team.  Their knowledge of Elvis individually and collectively proved to make them one of the best panels of judges we have had.  Thank you all for your hard work and for your diplomacy.

To the Club Paradise owners Jim and Sue and all their Staff .  You went the distance to make all of my staff and my artists feel at home.  Your beautiful facility made our weekend one that I am sure everyone will remember.  To Bryan Doyle Clarksville TN) who stepped in to Emcee and Showcase and did a fantastic job, To all my Staff, the Competitors, and to our own Charlie Hodge (Roy) Thank you for helping me realize my dream and keeping Elvis alive in Blasdell NY..."The Spirit Lives On"

YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE IT BUT SINCE JAN 9 JILL HAS BEEN IN IRAQ AS YOU ALL KNOW AND TODAY WAS RELEASED!! THE PRAYER WHEEL WE ALL HAD GOING WAS SOOOO STRONG AND I BELIEVE IT HAD A LOT TO DO WITH HER RELEASE.  PLUS THEIR COUNTRY THEMSELVES WERE PRAYING FOR HER RELEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE HAD THE ENTIRE WORLD France, Italy etc. putting posters up in huge arenas /courtyards, the Vatican etc...until her release.  With all this LOVE ON HER SIDE as they say  WHERE LOVE SHINES IT SMASHES OUT THE DARKNESS. 

THANKS SOOO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT FOR GETTING YOUR CHURCHES INVOLVED TOO!!

DAVE AND I PLANNED A FAMILY REUNION ON APRIL 30TH TO HELP BRING UP THE SPIRITS OF HIS FAMILY BECAUSE WITH JILL GONE AND WITH MANY OF THE AUNTS AND UNCLES AILING WE DECIDED TO DO SOMETHING POSITIVE.  WE ORGANIZED A FEW BACK 5 YEARS A GO BUT WE ARE OVER DUE FOR ANOTHER.   OH GOD IF SHE COULD COME TO THAT .. I'D BE SPEECHLESS.

I HAVEN'T WRITTEN TO THE AUNTS MOM AND DAD BUT I WILL.  I WANT TO GIVE THEM SOME SPACE FIRST. Thanks again for all your positive energies toward this .  We had heard just weeks ago they killed a man from her same newspaper!!!!!!!! We don’t know if it was a reporter or who.  These people do not know God and love and we can't return their hatred in kind... all we can do is educate and educate... the government is handling the violent part... we have to do the other. Thanks and look up at the stars tonight and be grateful that you had a part in such a heroic non violent method of purpose.  Our family will be forever grateful!!!!

 Dave and Maria, Dave's Aunt Edna (the grandma of Jill) Jim and Marybeth Carroll( her mom  and dad.)...and Jill's one sister Katie!!!! they and the rest of the Carroll clan says bless you for what you’ve done we cannot repay. love the Carroll family!!!!!!  

 

It is with great sadness that we want to  pass on to all Elvis fans around the world that Charlie Hodge passed away Friday evening as a result of lung cancer that was inoperable.  He had a couple of treatments of radiation therapy in between December and January.

Charlie Hodge was the guy that sang back up for Elvis, played guitar and also handed Elvis water and scarf's during his shows in the 1970's.  He has been performing nightly at the Memories Theatre for the past few years and  was only diagnosed in December 2005 that he had lung cancer.   He continued to perform despite that he had cancer. Like Elvis, he was a true and dedicated performer for the love of his fans.

      Here is a letter I received from Beth Stelling one of the coordinators of the Contest of Kings Mall of America.  We are glad we could help them in getting the word out  concerning their competition.  FTDP wishes them much success in this years show.

Bobbie Thank you for making it happen!  Well, we did it. We have had enough new sign-ups for the contest and for seats to go forward with the Contest of Kings. Thank all of you who responded so positively Very Very Much. We still need more help from anyone who can forward the info about the event to friends or ETAs. We are looking for sponsorships for next year also. And for advertisers who would like an ad in the program, on the website and on the video screen at the Mall. Let me know if you can help. We would like to make the show more and more fun and exciting every year!

I received the following letter and with great pride I would like to share it with everyone. Barbara "Belvis "Del Piano received a call a few days ago from California.  On Saturday she was flown out to the coast with all expenses paid by the studio. 

Dear Bobbie,
 
I want to Thank Follow That Dream Productions and Gene Di Napoli for such support on our trip to Hollywood. I have been so blessed with this opportunity, and so blessed with such support. There were 3 Elvis' present for the Television shoot. THIA ELVIS, EL-VEZ, & me, BELVIS. The commercials start running in 4 weeks and will continue to run throughout the summer of 2006. The actual show on "Special Characters" is yet to be announced, but will be within the next few months, or sooner.
Gene Di Napoli, allowed me to use his White Peacock Jumpsuit, as the producers required a white jumpsuit, and I did not own one. Gene's generosity was just the summery of the Elvis Spirit..."Helping a brother along the way" well, in this case his ETA sister.
Follow That Dream Productions is not just a production company, but a true FAMILY. Thank You for your advise, and listening ears. THANK YOU for being there, and hopefully we will be together a LONG, LONG TIME sharing in MUCH Success!!
