6/24 FTDP welcomes Gene back!!!  A famed Throggs Neck Elvis Impersonator has returned to the stage after a successful surgery revitalized a severe reflux condition, which paused his popular act for a year and a half. Thrilled to be up and moving, Gene DiNapoli said, “I’m coming back and the ailment has subsided, hopefully for good.” DiNapoli made his debut on stage at a sold out show June 11th – 12th at Michael’s Italian Family Restaurant, located at 4300 Boston Post Road.
A performance in late June at Tottonos Restaurant in Yonkers and an October appearance in California are also on DiNapoli’s upcoming schedule. As a result of the severe acid reflux disease, the entertainer’s vocal cords and esophagus were burned, forcing him to stop all performances in November of 2006. The road to recovery was particularly difficult for the impersonator, as he couldn’t enjoy his passion. “I really missed performing,” said DiNapoli, whose insurance would not cover the necessary procedure. “Last year was a roller coaster of emotion. ”Along with the inability to exercise his talent, DiNapoli said he struggled with the financial burden of not performing. At a high point in his career before the illness, the New York Post wrote a profile story on DiNapoli, which he said dramatically increased the demand for appearances. Unfortunately, his unexpected condition forced him to turn down lucrative offers, one of which was performing on a cruise ship.A low point hit when the television program, Hollywood Heat, came to his house to interview him, not knowing of his debilitating ailment. Still saddened recalling the meeting, DiNapoli said, “The guy said, ‘What’s wrong with you? We can’t put you on T.V. like this.’ ”Dispirited by the loss of the joy and financial compensation of his performances, friends, families and hundreds of supporters held a benefit on October 30 to help get DiNapoli back on track. “The benefit really lifted my spirits and did a lot of good,” he said. He is particularly grateful to the event’s main organizers friend and fellow performer Patrice Norell, and friend Lori Centeno, along with his wife, sister and parents. Many Bronx merchants helped with contributions for the benefit, including Jerome Ragusa, the famed “Cannoli King” of Gino’s Pastries on E. 187th Street in Belmont. DiNapoli looks to the future. “I want to start acting,” DiNapoli explained, “but music is always my first love.”

6/15 Letter to Elvis Fan Club Presidents: Legacy Hall of Fame, Inc. Bill & Linda Kinard

Dear Fan Club Presidents and Fan Club Members: It is an honor and a privilege to introduce to you and your fan club members to Legacy Hall of Fame, Inc., Linda Kinard, my wife, myself, Bill Kinard, and our project for your review and consideration. Legacy Hall of Fame, Inc. is a 501 (3) (c) nonprofit foundation.
The Project: Legacy Hall of Fame Inc. proposes to build a museum for the specific purpose of building a lasting tribute, to the legacy of numerous famous individuals, (legends) in the state of Mississippi. However, Elvis Presley will be one the museums most prominent features. The museum will be constructed to display art, memorabilia, vehicles, etc. and the "TCB Tour Bus", that "Elvis Presley" helped "J.D. Sumner" purchase. "J.D. Sumner & the Stamps Quartet" actually used the TCB tour bus; however Elvis did drive it at one time, according to the article in the book J.D. Sumner wrote. "Elvis His Love for Gospel Music and J.D. Sumner". We ask the fan club president to get behind this worth while project and inform your fan club members, family members, friends, and other fan clubs to support Legacy Hall of Fame and help it raise the funds to construct the museum and restore the TCB Tour Bus? Please visit our web sites at: http://www.LegacyHallofFame.org  and our other fans project at: http://www.elvispresleyheights.com. You may also contact us, Bill & Linda Kinard at: (662) 620-9966 and/or e-mail us at: LegacyHallofFame@gmail.com

CRUISES 2008

August 28th -September 1st All Elvis fans report to the buffet tables! The 2008 Elvis Cruise will be leaving New Orleans for a four night trip to Mexico. The host will be Jerry Schilling, one of The King's long time friends and member of his Memphis Mafia. Also Joe Guercio and an appearance by the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist of 2007 Shawn Klush. The agenda includes other Elvis impersonators, contests, and tributes to the big guy. The cruise is officially licensed by Elvis' estate. Sounds like more fun than the theme cruise we proposed based on The Poseidon Adventure that required all passengers to stand on their heads for the length of the journey. For full details .
