Rave On
A Tribute to Buddy Holly
Ed Marra portrays Buddy Holly in the one-man show
“Rave On – A Tribute to Buddy Holly”. Playing guitar in various styles
for 20 years, Ed was led to playing Buddy by comments about his physical
and sometimes vocal resemblance to Holly.
Ed has had a musical education, attending the
Philadelphia Magnet school Girard Academic Music Program from 5th grade
to 12th grade, 1981-1989. During those years, he was a member of the
All-City Jazz Band for Junior and Senior years of high school, as well
as a member of the Concert Choir, Pioneer Jazz Band and Guitar Trio
during his time at the school.
While attending Community College of Philadelphia, Ed
had a minor course curriculum in music – composition and history.

It is that love of all forms of music – particularly
classic Rhythm & Blues and early Rock ‘N Roll – that brings Ed’s
performance of Buddy Holly to a level that people feel like they’ve been
transported back to when they first heard Buddy on their 45s, radios or
jukeboxes.
Ed is also one of only a few Buddy Holly tribute artists to obtain both
permission from MPL Communications to perform the music and CMG Worldwide
(representatives of the Buddy Holly Estate) to use Buddy’s image, likeness
and name.
One of Ed's proudest moments in music, when he met and jammed with the
Crickets above.
Ed uses backing tracks to supply the bass, drums and occasional other
instruments, and plays guitar along with the backings, to give the
tribute the look of the musical legend.
