Malcolm King is now officially "Scotland's Best
Elvis". After competing in the contest organized by the Official Elvis
Presley Fan Club of Great Britain, Malcolm was voted the winner after
thrilling the audience with three outstanding performances.
Taking to the stage, his first song was the
challenging Just Pretend. A firm favorite with Elvis fans, his strong
vocal and masterful stage presence seen him coast through as the judging
panel placed him in the top three and a place in the final. All three
finalists would have to return to the stage and perform for a second
time. On this occasion, it was the audience who would be voting.
Considering the vast majority in attendance were Elvis Fan Club members,
Malcolm knew that this song would have to impress, so he decided on You
Gave Me A Mountain. Another stunning performance left the result in no
doubt, the votes were counted and Malcolm was declared the winner. An
emotional version of the classic Bridge over Troubled Water had the
audience on their feet as Malcolm left the stage to thunderous applause
and digital cameras flashing, it really was apparent that for this
adoring audience, Elvis has never left the building - and the legacy
lives on!
